Polavaram is termed as life line for Andhra Pradesh. Now it
is million dollar question whether this life line has completed or not among
the people.
As per AP Government
officials, 70% of the Polavaram project work has been completed and supposed to
give water through gravity by the end of this June. During the recent Election
campaign, Jagan too give assurance to farmers on completion of Polavaram and also
promised to implement R & R package as 2013 Land acquisition Act. Now, he
announced after meeting with Prime Minister in New Delhi that AP Govt need not
require constructing Polavaram. Logically he is right. But if AP fails to
complete 30% of the project now the delay will continue further which causes difficult
to the irrigation and drinking as well in the state.
If AP left the Polavaram to Cenral Govt we don’t have any
guarantee when the project will be finished. Lakhwar Dam on Yamuna River in
Uttarakhand is related to National Irrigation Project. This was started in 1987
when UP was combined state and this was not completed even now 19 years after
the division of the state. People in Krishna Delta and Rayalaseema were enjoyed
the fruits of Pattiseema. They expect and eagerly waiting for the completion of
Polavaram to counter drought situation in AP. Jagan’s statement raised many
doubts on completion of Polavaram.
