One of India's
missiles plowed into Pakistan and caused severe destruction. The incident,
which took place on March 9 evening, came to light recently with Pakistan announcing
that India had launched an unarmed supersonic missile at them. As per Pakistan
Army, the missile was launched from the Indian city of Sirsa and was spotted by
its air defense system. It is a surface-to-surface missile. It finally crashed
at around 6.50 am near Mian Chan in Punjab province. Its collision destroyed
the property of the citizens. Fortunately, no casualties were reported in the
incident.
The Department of Defense said in a statement
Friday that it had ordered a court-of-inquiry inquiry. Although the government
has not said what the missile was, it is believed to be a BrahMos missile. The
sources said the missile, which was launched from Sirsa in Haryana, was
supposed to go to the Mahajan Field Firing Range in Rajasthan. Pakistan defense
experts confirmed that it was a supersonic surface-to-surface missile after
conducting forensic research on debris. Pakistan has summoned Indian High Commissioner
at Islamabad and expressed strong dissident over the alleged incident. India
said that the missile fired during its regular maintenance. Two nations have an
agreement on flight testing of ballistic missiles. One should send a
notification to another 3 days before it is tested on their soil.
