European Union countries are once again entangled in coronavirus. Germany, Austria, and many other nations have reported all-time record high COVID19 cases again in the EU. The most literate continent is struggling how to counter the pandemic. Many countries have asked people to have green vaccine passports to roam within the country and France has imposed strict restrictions in the country. Germany is now at a record high for cases. Deaths are surging too. The country reports another covid-19 record of more than 50k cases on November 10th. It's the first time that Germany surpassed 50k new cases after the eruption of the pandemic.
Around two-thirds of people in Germany are fully vaccinated against coronavirus. Germany’s virologists predict another lockdown will if vaccinations don’t quickly complete. Delta variant has a much higher reproduction rate which has double the effectiveness that Germany faced last year. Free rapid tests for all were scrapped nearly a month ago in an effort to incentivize more people to get vaccinated. There are now widespread calls for them to be re-introduced. The new coalition government in Germany welcomed all problems. From next week those who are not fully vaccinated will be excluded from a number of entertainment sites in Berlin.
Germany has fully vaccinated 67% of its population, leaving one in three people unprotected. Over 4.9 million people have been infected by COVID-19 in Germany since the beginning of the pandemic. There is a prediction that ICUs in Germany are overflowing with patients in the coming weeks. There will be huge pressure developing on the health sector if the trend continues like this. Countries including Austria, Israel, and Switzerland have imposed an expiry date on all vaccine certificates. Austria is a small country so a lot of what happens here goes unnoticed.
