European Union Parliament discuss on CAA


Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) is burning issue in India since two months. Now, it becomes International issue after European Parliament (EU) took the issue as debate. 
This is the first time an Indian issue has highlighted in International Forum except J&K. In India, agitations and protests take place regularly in different cities of the nation. Can EU discuss in their Parliament on CAA? Yes! CAA is not related to inter-state affairs within the nation. CAA is linked to three nations and three communities that made the issue out of India. US and other developing nations are tried to interfere in Indian affairs by using Jammu & Kashmir but India successfully stopped and retort severely in all International Forums including UN.

European Parliament has taken CAA as debate and there will be chance of voting after debate. It has prepared a draft of resolution on CAA and voting will take on the resolution after debate.  751 members of European Parliament will vote on CAA on January 30th at 7.30 pm IST. What will happen if EU members voted against CAA? Will it becomes spar to the nation globally? BJP is not in a position to take back on implementation of CAA even though four India states passed the resolution against CAA in their assemblies. BJP uses CAA as election campaign for every state. BJP leaders thrash the opponents as Anti-Nationalists who opposed CAA.

EU believed that CAA is ‘Discriminatory in nature and dangerously divisive’. EU opined that amended CAA has provoked several protests. It finds fault on police high handedness over University Students who fight against CAA. EU prepared the resolution draft and asked Indian government to respond on citizens petitions against CAA. It is shocking that EU resolution is mentioned about violence and police killings in Utter Pradesh. EU discussion on CAA in Parliament is not good sign for India. For the first time India faced irks from other nations with CAA. Reportedly, EU might issue sanctions against India if the resolution passed in Parliament on CAA.
