Will Council scrap turns to another self-goal of Jagan?


Jagan made his speech in Assembly gave indications on scrapping of Legislative Council of Andhra Pradesh. Episode of Capital shift from Amaravati to Visakhapatnam forced the YSRCP Government to scrap the Legislative Council.
There is no specific reason for scrapping the council except the sending of CDRA and Decentralization Bills to select committee. Leader should have patience in politics but Jagan doesn’t have it seems.

This is not first time that Council stop the approved Bills in Assembly after Jagan came into power. Council has rejected Bills on SC/ST and English Medium with some amendments. Jagan government didn’t discuss on scrapping of Legislative Council. This time Jagan got frustration and almost decided to scrap the council. During his speech in Assembly he said there are many scholars in Assembly, that’s the reason Council should not require. If he waits one year, YSRCP would get more number of MLCs for every two years. 

TDP should face similar situation if it comes to power in 2024. He said that Council used as filling as political unemployment. If he scraps the council, Ministers Mopidevi and Pilli have lost their berths. As per buzz, Jagan offer MLC tickets to some people who didn’t get MLA berths in 2019 elections. All of them turned against to YS Jagan. BJP have two MLCs in AP Council. Can BJP accept his wish of scrapping of Council? It will take one more year to complete the process if BJP co-operates with State Govt. By that time YSRCP members will increased TDP strength come to decline. Scrapping of Council is huge political loss to YSRCP not to TDP. Finally! Three capitals issues forced the Government to think on scrapping the Council.
