Beijing’s
arrogance has gone beyond the territories and unchecked. China claims one of
the Indian states as its integral part. Arunachal Pradesh is part of ‘South
Tibet’ which was renamed as Zangnan. It is a surprise when Indian rulers tried
to change Indian cities, neighbors change India’s state. China’s Ministry of
Civil Affairs had standardized Chinese, Tibetan, and Roman alphabets for 15 places
in Arunachal Pradesh. The renaming places include 8 residential areas, 4 mountains,
two rivers, and a mountain pass. This is not the first time that Beijing’s
obsession with the Indian state.
Naming the places in Indian Territory is nothing but China’s aggressive expansion strategy. China has released a new map along with newly changed names in Arunachal Pradesh on December 30. China’s top legislative body National People’s Congress had passed new border law in October 2021. The new law aimed to protect China’s land border areas which effect from January 1, 2022. As per Chinese media, the new law is to take steps to safeguard Chinese territory. But the new law is a seriously great concern for 14 land-sharing nations including India.
China claims that the 90k square km area in Arunachal Pradesh belongs to it. In 2017 also China had tried invented names for the places in Arunachal Pradesh. As per the Pentagon report, China has also built a village in a disputed area in Arunachal Pradesh. India rejected and reacted quickly to the Chinese claim. India said that changing the names could not alter the facts. The buildings are located about 6 km within India, in the region between the Line of Actual Control and the International Boundary. India and China have around 3,400 km land border called as Line of Actual Control (LAC).
