What is happening in Canada?

For two days the hashtag #CanadaHasFallen has been going viral in social media. It is odd to hear that the Prime Minister of the country is hiding from the protests in front of his office. Reportedly, Justin Trudeau moved to a secret location along with his family as Truck drivers and farmers protest spark security fears. Thousands of truckers protest in Capital Ottawa against Canada’s vaccine mandatory rule. 50k protesters could be seen carrying copies of the Charter of Rights and Freedoms, while others carried signs reading 'God keep our land glorious and free,' 'Make Canada great again,' and 'we are here for our freedom'.

They shouted slogans against Prime Minister Justin Trudeau. Protestors compared covid-19 restrictions to fascism and made use of Nazi’s symbol on upside down Canadian flags. The movement slowly turned into a movement against Justin Trudeau’s government. Hundreds of trucks packed into the streets of the capital Ottawa. It is surprising that common people also joined in protest rallies to show their frustration against Turdeau’s government. Some of the protestors were seen dancing on the prominent War Memorial. The organizers of the anti-vaccine mandate protest downtown say that they have planned to increase the protests further on Monday as well.

The protest initially aimed to deny the vaccine mandates for truck drivers across the United States border. The Prime Minister has defended the vaccine mandate even though 90% of truck drivers are vaccinated. After that his statements are irksome to people. Trudeau said that truck drivers' views posed a risk not only to themselves but to the whole Canada as well. Protesters expressed border discontent with the government. Both Canada and the U.S have imposed vaccination mandatory for cross border truckers.
