President of the United States of America has completed the first year of his
tenure. The entire world saw the irregularities in the presidential
election and how the supporters of Donald Trump tried to obstruct joint session
of Congress assembled to count electoral votes that would formalize
President-elect Joe Biden's victory. The United States Capitol attack on the
first week of January 2021 was an indelible scar in its history. People put
many hopes on new President Joe Biden. Three of his election slogans like
“America is Back”, “Diplomacy is Back”, and “Build back better” attract many
young voters to win the election. It seems all these promises remain
unfulfilled during Joe’s first year as President.
When we see the approval ratings of Joe Biden is just 1% ahead of his arch-rival Donald Trump. Joe Biden is at 41% whereas Trump stood at 40% in approval ratings. Joe took the charge as the US President when his rating is high at 59% and by September his rating fell down to 50%. Afghanistan episode was a huge setback to Joe Biden’s sudden fall of the rating. He said that countering the Wuhan virus is the second biggest challenge. But America is still at the top both in a number of cases and casualties as well. The number of deaths because of the coronavirus pandemic is more during Biden’s governance (441,590) than Trump’s (435,094). It is a shocking number the even US starts a vaccination program.
Biden made a promise while running for office was to end the separation of migrant families and the detention of children at the border. But in reality, the US has seen migrant issues create new challenges to the government. It seems Biden has not learned a lesson from Afghan failures. The United States of America asks Baltic states to send weapons to Ukraine. He challenged Russian President Putin on the Ukraine issue which is not relevant to the United States. The border issue with Mexico remains unsolved. Biden wants to grant legal status to 11 million undocumented people but not approved in Congress.
