Are BC reservations limited to 10.49% in Nellore?

YS Jagan announced that his government would increase additional 10% to BCs by increasing total reservations in local body elections to 59.85%. BC reservations in local body elections in AP will become agenda point before the elections.
AP High Court strikes-off the petition Government’s proposed 59.85% total reservations in local bodies. Government has decided to go for elections with 50% as per High Court directions. 24% reservations go to BC community population. If anyone observes the reservations across 13 districts few districts haven’t get even 24% BC reservations as per constitution. Nellore is the worst affected district in the state where just 10.49 BC reservations instead of 24%.

If we compare BC reservations with 2014 to 2020 one should get clear picture. Total number of ZPTCs in AP is 660. As per 24% reservations for BCs, 159 ZPTCs would go to BC population. But they got 154 ZPTCs. In Nellore there are 46 ZPTCs and BC would get 11 but they got 6 ZPTCs. In 16 Mandals in the district, BC have no chance to contest in election. Kovvur is the highest BC population lived in where reservations got 8.97%. Only two segments have more than 20% of BC reservations are Udayagiri and Atmakur segments in Nellore district. In Sullurpet segment is the least BC reservations with 1.6%.

In last election, there were 166 MPTCs in Nellore. Now there are 60 MPTCs in the district. 106 BC people will go too lost to contest in local body elections. How governments fix the reservations in local bodies without following norms? TDP is using this as opportunity to lash out YSRCP. It tried to expose Jagan as Backstabber to BC Community. Chairman of BC community R. Krishnaiah who demand Telangana government to appeal in Supreme Court for increase of BC reservations is maintained silence in AP.
