Reasons for Italy's failure in handling Coronavirus


Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi led all the ways not to spread the epidemic virus into India. Of Course! There was widespread criticism on Modi for delay in response to counter Coronavirus.
Number of positive cases could have reduced if Modi government stops the International Flights a month before. Though his response lately, but Modi is doing well in leading the nation all the ways against coronavirus. He urged SAARC nations in video conference in taking necessary steps to counter Coronavirus in their Nations.

Modi had a discussion with Chief Ministers, Electronic Media and Print Media before he decided to put nation-wide lockdown. But India should learn from the experience of European Countries Italy and Spain. Italy and Spain are worst affected nations in Europe because of Coronavirus. Italy surpasses China in death toll and Spain would beat China in coming days. There are many reasons for Italy’s failure. Italy government and political leaders were initially very complacent about the problem. When initial deaths happened in Milan City, in Lombardy region several leaders of the ruling party rushed to say they are deaths natural. Prime Minister Giuseppe Conte openly said “Milan Does Not Stop” slogan. By hiding facts, Italy government tried to divert the attention of the people but it failed in later days.

In Italy, different generations tend to spend more time together, often under the same roof, which may have helped facilitate contagion to the elderly. People don’t maintain Social Distancing and government also not forced to do in early stages of Coronavirus in Jan and Feb. Italy deny cutting commercial relations with China even after one month of pandemic virus busted in Wuhan. Lombardy region is the hardest hit. Nearly half of all registered cases and two thirds of official deaths come from this area, which accounts for a sixth of Italy’s population. The region is called to be Italy’s economic super house of the nation. Lack of assessment from government and ignorance of people are the main reasons for Italy’s failure to counter Covid-19.
