Film producers look towards OTT amid Coronavirus

Coronavirus pandemic made it’s impact in all industry sectors including Film Industry. Watching films is the cheap and common for all people across the nation.
Number of films were produced and released in Bollywood and other languages every year. Lakhs of people depend of film industry and led their lives. Now, the Industry falls in grave danger. Social-distancing concept to control the Covid-19 severely hits Film Industry. Producers and exhibitors want full-houses but government asked people maintain social-distancing.

Even after lockdown, people haven’t dared to rush towards theatres for watching the films. Until or unless vaccine for covid-19 available in market, people never come to theatres. This becomes rude shock to producers and industry as well. Producers are looking for other options to release their films. OTT is the new platform they found amid of coronavirus outbreak.  An over-the-top (OTT) media service is a streaming media service offered directly to viewers via the Internet. OTT bypasses cable, broadcast, and satellite television platforms, the companies that traditionally act as a controller or distributor of such content.

Jyotika's upcoming film Ponmagal Vandhal, which was supposed to release on March 27, will not release in theatres. The film will directly release on an OTT platform in May. The latest development is that Ponmagal Vandhal will have its digital premiere in May. With this, Ponmagal Vandhal becomes the first film to have a direct OTT release in the history of Tamil cinema. Bollywood upcoming film ’83’ which produced by KA Productions has plan to release in August 2020. There are rumors that 83 also release in OTT platform. Ranveer Singh condemn the news and the movie should release in theatres.
