Air Pollution is the burning problem faced by every developed nation. Swedish teenage activist Greta Thunberg speech at United Nations against developed nations for not following Eco policies was remembered. Delhi is the most affected nation with air pollution. Kejriwal Government has implemented Odd & Even policy to reduce the air pollution in the city. Now, New Delhi air pollution abates as factories shut down.
Not only Delhi, every city in India has improved the air quality since first 10 days of nationwide lockdown. As vehicles stay off the road, construction is put on hold, and factories stop production improve the quality in atmosphere. Air pollution includes gases such as ammonia, carbon monoxide, sulfur dioxide, nitrous oxides, methane and chlorofluorocarbons. It causes for a number of pollution-related diseases, including respiratory infections, heart disease, COPD, stroke and lung cancer. It is good news when the whole world is fighting on Coronavirus.
Countries never go to take critical decisions like shutdown if everything is going smoothly. Pandemic Coronavirus forced the nations to go for lockdown. Central Pollution Control Board has assessed that the ‘Janta Curfew’ on March 22 and the lockdown since March 24 has led to a near dramatic improvement in the air quality across large parts of India. As per the report, 91 cities come under Good and satisfactory levels and 31 cities have with good air quality Index. Mumbai, Chennai, Kolkata and Bangalore have also recorded a drop in these air pollutants.
