The first Coronavirus case was registered on January 30th
in Kerala. Chief Minister and his team haven’t neglected the pandemic virus at
any time.
It seems that Pinarayi Vijayan is more proactive in assessing the
situation than other political leaders and CMs in India including Prime
Minister Modi. The number of new cases in the first week of April dropped 30
percent from the previous week. With just two deaths, 52 percent of positive
patients have recovered in the state, higher than elsewhere in India.
Communist state government’s robust response to attack
pandemic coronavirus is inspirational and role model to rest of the Indian
states and even for outside India. The efforts taken by Vijayan government include
aggressive testing, intense contact tracing, instituting a longer quarantine,
building thousands of shelters for migrant workers stranded by the sudden
nationwide shutdown and distributing millions of cooked meals to those in need.
Kerala is the first state in conducting high number of tests in India. Initially,
the number went to high and start declining since April first week.
As per current scenario, every state in India is in second
or third stages Kerala seems to almost get out of the problem. Before Indian
Government taken the decision of closure of International Flights in second
week of March, Kerala Government did quick random checking for all passengers
who came to Kerala from other nations. The preventive measures appear to be
paying off. Kerala’s proactive measures, such as early detection and broad
social support measures, could serve as a model for the rest of the country.
Health Minister Shailaja has played very vital role in taking the steps to
control the pandemic virus. Aggressive testing, isolating, tracing and treating
are the 4 point formula of Kerala’s success.
