Where is TRUE Patriot of Afghanistan?

After getting tough resistance from NRF, Taliban took control of Panjshir valley on September 07th, 2021. With the fall of Panjshir, everyone is curious about the whereabouts of two leaders, Afghan Vice President Amrullah Saleh and NRF leader Ahmad Massoud. Taliban executes Afghanistan's former vice president Amrullah Saleh's brother, leader of anti-Taliban opposition forces in the Panjshir valley. Taliban fighters have been caught on film discovering around $6mn in cash and around 15 gold bars from Amrullah Saleh’s house in Panjshir province. The former Afghan Vice President hasn’t commented.  A Taliban leader posted a video on Twitter with the claim of over $6 million.

Where is Amrullah Saleh? Is he alive or fled away from Afghanistan? He is the only leader of the former Afghan government who has continued to fight against the Taliban. As the Taliban swept through Afghanistan, facing little resistance from one leader, Amrullah Saleh, vowed not to yield. Amrullah Saleh was joined with Ahmad Massoud, leader of the Northern alliance which fought against the Soviet Union in 90’s. Ahmad Massoud identified the young leader’s intelligence and him as key advisor. Amrullah Saleh served in the Defense ministry headed by Massoud in 1996. After that he left for the US to be trained by the CIA.  He coordinated with the CIA to get military equipment for the Northern Alliance. Former President Hamid Karzai appointed Amrullah Saleh as Intelligence Chief in 2004.

Right from the beginning, Amrullah Saleh blamed Pakistan ISI and Haqqani Network for attacks on Afghanistan. To prove his assessment, the Pakistan army helped the Taliban in fighting against the Northern Alliance in Panjshir valley. He was escaped several assassination attempts by ISI and Taliban. He was appointed as first Vice President of Afghanistan in 2019. Many officials who worked with Saleh, he always praised the Indian democratic model. Reportedly, Saleh intentionally destroyed photos of his wife and children soon after Taliban took control of Afghanistan. He ordered his convoy to shoot him if Amrullah Saleh ever came close to being captured by Taliban. As per the sources, Amrullah Saleh is still alive in Panjshir even after September 07th. Taliban is believed that Saleh has escaped along with Ahmad Massoud who is the son of late Ahmad Shah to Tajikistan.
