Coronavirus pandemic is wreaking havoc in Russia. Deaths and positive cases are increasing day by day in the country. There were 1,015 corona deaths on October 19th, which is the highest since the corona outbreak. 33,740 new cases were reported in 24 hours. For the first time, Corona deaths exceed a thousand cases in one day since the outbreak of the epidemic in Russia. A total of more than 80.60 lakh cases have been reported and 2,25,325 people have died in Russia so far. The cabinet has already asked President Vladimir Putin. Russia has so far been reluctant to impose a nationwide lockdown when other nations were implemented to check the coronavirus.

The Corona situation in Russia was almost critical and that the vaccination
level in the population was too low. The Russian government also repeatedly
complains about the low vaccination rates. Though Russia is supplying its own
made vaccine Sputnik V to other nations, it is very unfortunate that the
country failed to do a campaign on vaccination at home. Russia has only
exported 4.8% of the roughly 1 billion Sputnik V doses it promised. Russia recorded
32% population as fully vaccinated and 35.7% population vaccinated with at
least 1 dose.
Even
though the testing data is unavailable, many countries were eager to import
Sputnik V to counter pandemics. Russian people themselves suspect the corona vaccine
made by their country. Russians remain largely unconvinced that vaccines are
safe. Knowing the poor response of Sputnik V, the Russian government
offered incentives including money, shopping coupons, and gift cards to the
people for vaccination. The government offers free transport facilities
for them to vaccination centers from their home. As per the recent survey, 54%
of Russians are unwilling to get vaccinated, a level of reluctance that has
remained almost unchanged in the past year.
