For the first time in December 2008, the Indian Ministry of Defense placed an order for 80 helicopters for $ 1.3 billion. A total of 71 helicopters were ordered by the Ministry of Defense in 2012 and 2013.

• These helicopters can travel continuously up to a maximum speed of 250 kilometers per hour and up to 580 kilometers with a full tank of fuel.

• Their maximum takeoff weight is 13 thousand kg. It can move up to 36 people at once. The sling‌ mechanism can carry a weight of 4500 kg.

• These helicopters are equipped with special protective shields and are coated with a synthetic foam called polyurethane to prevent the fuel tank from exploding. Because of this, helicopters are very useful to rescue the victims in case of major fire accidents.
