China’s Space War with Elon Musk

Beijing had problems with all developed nations and also its neighbors. In particular, after the eruption of the Wuhan virus, China was showed aggressiveness towards others. Now, Beijing fumes at Elon Musk’s Space Satellites on space. China is calling on the United States to protect a Chinese space station and its three-member crew after Beijing complained that satellites launched by Elon Musk’s SpaceX nearly struck the station. China blamed that Starlink satellites launched by SpaceX made two close encounters with the Chinese Tiangong Space Station. Beijing has accused the US of violation of international treaty obligations in outer space.

But Space X hasn’t reacted yet to Beijing’s allegations. Beijing raises international space protocol without showing evidence on its allegations. It is surprising that China is talking about International Protocol. No one can forget China’s openly flouted rules in the South China Sea. Space laws or treaties haven’t clearly defined the boundaries. Most of the rules are based on Outer Space Treaty which was made in 1967 was more than 5 decades ago. Now, private space tourism has increased in a developed nation like the United States of America.

There is no proof of Chinese allegations over Elon Musk. It seems that China’s next crackdown might be Tesla. Beijing’s allegation prompts the people in China to raise the call like Tesla Boycott on social media. Elon Musk’s SpaceX has launched 1900 satellites for Starlink and has planned to launch many satellites in the future. Starlink is a division of Musk’s private company SpaceX. It has official approval from US authorities to launch and aim to develop the communication system and to provide speedy internet access to most of the planet. There are around 30k satellites floating around in space. There is a possibility happening junk in space.
