Politics are dynamic in any country. Opposition and ruling parties are always trying to get the upper hand in any country's politics. Democrats and Republicans are arch-rivals in the United States of America. Thanks to coronavirus to make them the unanimous opinion of the eruption of the Wuhan virus in the U.S. Now, both these senators joined their hands to fight against China on the Uighur issue. The U.S. House passed legislation designed to punish China for its treatment of Uyghur Muslims in the country’s far-western Xinjiang region, a move that is sure to anger Beijing and add to rising tension between the world’s two largest economies.
The U.S. passes a bill called Uighur Forced Labour Prevention Act to ban goods made by forced Uighur labor from Xinjiang in China. The bill passed in the house with the overwhelming majority of 428-1. Both Republicans and Democrats have spoken on one voice over atrocities against the Uighur community. When all Muslim nations have chosen China’s goods made from Uighur labor, the U.S. took a harsh step against China’s genocide of Xinjiang. 80k Uighur Muslims are subjected to forced labor in China. Whatever be the reason the U.S. exposed China to Xinjiang genocide to the rest of the world. Washington decided to reject the goods produced by forced labor in Xinjiang.
As per the bill, the U.S. imposed a bar of Chinese imported goods to be produced through forced labor. It also ensures that American enterprises are not financing forced labor in Xinjiang. The bill imposed sanctions on any foreign entity that deals in forced labor of Uighurs. Many mainstream brands benefit from Uighur labor. Reportedly, 27 Chinese factories were linked to a range of supply chains. Versace, Lotus Vitton, Dior, and Gucci from the fashion industry are benefiting from forced labor. Acer, Dell, Lenovo, and Microsoft from the tech industry, and BMW, Jaguar, GM, and Land Rover are benefiting from Uighur labor. America’s decision to stop imports of Chinese goods made from forced labor is a vital one but it is doubtful on implementation of the bill.
