Eleven people, including two children, have died while about 300 are hospitalized after a gas leakage from LG Polymers chemical plant in RR Venkatapuram village, Visakhapatnam, in Andhra Pradesh today. Around 360 employees are working in LG Polymers and company produce 417 tons of polystyrene on daily basis.But LG people ignored how to open 45 days stored gas effectively.
Who is behind this mishap? AP Government has planned to starts commercial operations in Green and Orange Zones in the state. Representatives of LG Polymers said that stock of styrene gas stored many days because of 45 of lockdown. They request the government to evacuate the gas but government didn’t responded to their request. Both the management and government are to be accused. How the government allowed opening the plastic manufacturing unit after the lockdown? Plastic not falls in essential goods category.
Videos and photos on the incident are very horrible to see. They are getting viral in social media. Footages of the incident show people lying on Vizag's roads near the site, possibly unconscious. Many are being carried into ambulances, and people rushing in to help. An industrial siren sounds in the background, amid a heartbreaking scene of a child trying to wake up a woman lying unconscious on the divider. Covid-19 saved people today in Vizag. Ambulances are available to take the victims immediately to hospital.
