Water Politics start again between two Telugu states. Telangana
chief minister K Chandrashekar Rao said that the government would launch legal
action against Andhra Pradesh if it builds a lift irrigation project to divert
water from the Srisailam dam to Rayalaseema.
Issue turns to be political in two states. As per the latest
GO from AP, the new schemes proposed by the AP government include construction
of Rayalaseema lift scheme aimed at pumping three tmc of water from
Sangameshwara into Srisailam Right Main Canal, up gradation of Pothireddypadu
head regulator canal system to draw 80,000 cusecs of water from foreshore of
Srisailam reservoir and other up gradation various works in existing canal
system of Galeru-Nagari project to draw another 70,000 cusecs of water from
Srisailam.
AP BJP leaders request Telangana government not to involve
in the issue where as Telangana BJP asked AP government to withdraw the GO.
Telangana BJP lashed out ruling TRS government and Telangana Congress leaders
said that there was mutual understanding between TRS and YSRCP. In whole
episode, TDP maintains silent. YSRCP wants to drag TDP into the issue and wants
to prove TDP is against to Rayalaseema. During TDP era Krishna water released
through Pothireddypadu to Rayalaseem districts. Then SAKSHI Telangana write
against TDP government but the same thing is YSRCP is doing now. Reportedly, to sideline the issues like increase
in Corona cases in two states and Vizag gas leak, two state governments raise
the Srisailam reservoir for their political interests.
