In Kerala the first cortonavirus
positive case was registered in India on January 29th. From then
onwards, the cases increased on each passing day. None of the Chief Ministers
and Prime Minister had care on pandemic virus.
Kerala was first in number of
positive cases on March first week. Kerala was retained first place when Modi
was announced Lockdown-1 on March 24th. But steps taken by Vijayan
Government start paid off in April month. Now, Kerala has 512 cases and not
even in top 12 states of India. BBC was telecasted documentary “How India's Kerala
state 'flattened the curve” on Kerala success and asks other nations to follow
Kerala. Many believe Kerala has flattened the curve at a time when the
infection is on the rise all over India. BJP leaders are talking about Gujarat
Model as development but Gujarat is in top 5 states on Coronavirus cases.
The main reason for Kerala success is
government investment on Health sector which was neglected by other states and
even Union Government. Health workers supported people with special needs and
the elderly living alone. The three-tier public health system, involving
functioning government hospitals, is the result of a more than half-century
long legacy of spending on healthcare. Even every state government ran for
opening liquor shops after lockdown-3 but Kerala is not ready to do so. Cases
have slowed down, recoveries are high and the mortality rate is low. It helped that
it had a smaller population than many
other states and also a highly literate one.
