BJP strategy in giving lockdown extension with MHA!


Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) issued an order under the Disaster Management Act, 2005 to further extend the lockdown for a period of two weeks beyond 4 May, 2020 in order to combat the novel coronavirus outbreak in the country. The extension of lockdown comes to an end till May 17. It seems that BJP did lot of exercise before the extension of third lockdown. Why MHA was released the government order and mentioned extension instead of PM's address? BJP is taking care not to repeat two incidents before lockdown extension.

Assuming the Bandra railway station incident in advance, BJP government planned to issue government order of lockdown extension from MHA. It helps to suppress the anger and agony of migrant labour to some extent. Second reason is shifting the migrant laborers since two days. Central government gave permission to labour and students to leave their state with some guidelines.  Respective state governments have arranged buses to take back their people and government also allowed Trains to travel migrants from all corners in the country. Keeping the above two, MHA announced the third extension of lockdown.

During the announcement of Lockdown-1, Narendra Modi, address to the nation and imposed a 21-day lockdown to contain the spread of coronavirus in the country from March 25 (12 AM) onwards till April 14. At that time India had 536 confirmed cases across India and 10 reported deaths. During the announcement of Lockdown-2, Modi, address to the nation and imposed another 19 days lockdown aimed to control the pandemic in the nation from April 15 onwards till May 03rd. At that time, the health ministry reported 10,363 positive cases of infections and 339 deaths. When MHA announced Lockdown-3, the number of Covid-19 cases in India reaches 37,336 and deaths jump to 1,218. Extension of two week period of third lockdown is comes to end by May 17.  People are mentally ready for lockdown - 4 till the end of May 31st. BJP will face music if government unable to control pandemic even after 4 lockdowns.
