The state election commissioner's proceedings were heard in the Supreme Court today. The AP government has filed a petition seeking a stay on the High Court's ruling that Ramesh Kumar should continue as commissioner. It warned that games with constitutional bodies were inappropriate.
Apex court made serious comments on AP Government attitude.
How state government removed person having constitutional position? It asked
state government not to play games with constitutional bodies and refused to
give stay orders on High Court directions. Supreme Court said that case
adjourned for next two weeks to hear AP Government arguments.
It seems that AP Govt is still searching for loopholes on judgment
and willing to appoint Nimmagadda Ramesh Kumar as AP Chief Election Commissioner.
If the state government not restores Nimmagadda as SEC there may be chance of
contempt of court against state government. YSRCP government make self goal on
Nimmagadda issue. It’s better to stop the issue and avoid stretching further. The
more state government involved in the case the more political damage would
happen.
