The Silicon Valley seems to be united against US President Donald Trump. Twitter and Facebook are going against Donald Trump.
Facebook and Twitter on Friday pulled down a misleading video posted by President Donald Trump's accounts because of a copyright complaint. Social Media giants are regulating political speech in their platforms. Both Twitter and Facebook follow different strategies for common purpose.
Twitter adds warning label to Trump’s
tweet that included the same video, saying the post featured "manipulated
media”. Twitter claims that US President Trump tweeted a doctored video with
fake headline. Facebook said that they received a copyright complaint from the
rights holder of this video. On other side, Facebook takes down Trump Campaign
Ads saying that Ads by Trump campaign showed Nazi Symbols. Twitter starts
fact-checks on Trump reelection campaign Ads.
Facebook calls Trump Campaign Ads ‘Organized
Hate’. It takes down nearly 100 Ads run by Trump’s reelection campaign. The Ads
in question prominently featured an inverted red triangle which the same symbol
Nazi used to identify political prisoners. Trump is using the Symbol to attack
his political opponents. Facebook says such rhetoric is not only in violation
of it’s policies but qualifies for organized hate. Twitter and Facebook are
finally taking measures to curb Trump’s most egregious posts on their platforms.
Two companies have variously fact-checked, hidden, or added warning labels to
posts and ads of Trump re-election campaign.
