United Nations honours Kerala Health Minister K.K. Shailaja

Kerala was lauded and praised by everyone after making the pandemic controlled successfully in the state. The United Nations gave recognition to the achievement of the state in fighting Covid-19 on its Public Service Day, celebrated on June 23.

On 30 January, India reported its first case of COVID-19 in Kerala, which rose to three cases by 3 February; all were students returning from Wuhan. Low profiled Pinarayi government effectively worked hard against pandemic virus than much publicitized some of the states in India. In February month, Kerala was recorded with highest number of positive cases. Later, the situation has changed slowly in the state.

Unlike other governments, Kerala government didn’t participate in Modi’s call like clang the utensils and lighting the lamps. When every state rushed to open Wines Shops, Kerala government not showed much hurry in opening the wine shops. Kerala is the state that successfully implemented the lockdown guidelines in India. Government made arrangements for all necessitates and groceries to door delivery. Pinarayi government objected Vande Bharat Mission when Modi government decided to take back stranded Indians in various nations. But the Government worked effectively in controlling the virus.

The United Nations gave recognition to the achievement of the state in fighting Covid-19 on its Public Service Day, celebrated on June 23. Health Minister KK Shailaja was the lone speaker from the country to speak about the strategies adopted by the state. At the webinar streamed on UN Web TV, she shared her views along with senior officers of the UN. The event was organized to honor leaders who have done commendable work in the fight against Covid-19. The moderator, Odette Ramsingh, who is executive director of Sefako Makgatho Health Sciences University, hailed Shailaja for low mortality rates in the state due to early intervention.
