Now, the country saw cases steadily drop in October and November. The daily average fell to 44K, less than half the peak rate seen in September. Indian government claimed lockdowns and rapid testing efforts turned the tide. India medical teams have done an average of 1.1 lakh tests each day from September to November.
Some scientists and health experts were skeptical about the drop in positive cases in the country. As per them, lower number of cases could be the result of less reliable tests. India’s first major election was held during the pandemic outbreak is second reason on health concerns. BJP supporters have celebrated the victory in Bihar elections without masks and social distance. There is also fears in health experts mind of possible surge in cases as people celebrate the Hindu light festival Diwali in mid November.
The Ministry of Health and Family Welfare said that India has scaled an unprecedented peak with active coronavirus cases dropping below the 5-lakh mark for the first time after 106 days. India recorded an average of three new Covid-19 deaths per million populations in the last seven days as against the global average of seven new deaths per million populations. The only state Delhi seems too worrisome to the nation on surging of new cases. India's capital, Delhi, is battling a winter surge in Covid-19 cases as temperatures plummet and air pollution rises to dangerous levels.
