Will farmer’s protest turn to major one?

Nation didn’t see serious protests since 6.5 years during Narendra Modi governance. We saw Anti CAA and NRC protests in Northern India after the bill getting passed in Parliament in December 2019.

Thanks to pandemic virus for not having any pro and anti CAA and NRC protests since 9 months. The bill was landed in Apex court to clear legal hurdle. Farmers are doing protests against the three central farm legislations since September’20. Thousands of the farmers from Punjab, Haryana, Rajasthan and Uttar Pradesh have been marching towards national capital.

BJP governments in UP and Haryana were failed to convince the farmers on legislation of new farm bills whereas Punjab and Rajasthan governments are extending their support to the agitation. They demand Union government for guarantee minimum support price (MSP) for their crops. The new bill break the monopoly of government regulated mandis and will allow farmers to sell their products directly. Farmers are in fear new farm legislations will gradually end the mandi system and leave the farmers at the mercy of corporates. In October, a month of after three farm legislations were enacted by the centre, Punjab assembly was rejected the bills unanimously.

Akalidal Dal, which was NDA alliance opposed the BJP’s legislation and came out in Lok Sabha. Whatever is the reason Punjab government support farmer’s agitation. Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar had talks with unions and failed to convince them on new legislations. That forced farmers from Punjab and Haryana have planned “Delhi Chalo” march and made arrangements accordingly. They braved to do march in severe cold season to Delhi with one month ration and blankets. Government has invited leaders of farmers for initial talks on December 03rd. If they will not convinced with Government’s opinion agitation might spread to other states.
