It was signed over 195 nations in December 2015 with an idea of slowing the process of global warming. The agreement aims to limit end of century warming below 1.5 degrees Celsius. Trump’s administration withdrew from the Paris Climate Agreement formally in 2017. Trump has mentioned that the agreement was unfair and no use to United States with Paris concord.

Biden promised to the nation during election campaign that US would rejoin the agreement once he comes into power. Kerry’s appointment is being seen as Biden keeping his promise to work for climate change. Biden has proposed a $2 trillion spending plan to tackle the climate change. Kerry’s appointment is especially pivotal since it “elevates the issue of climate change to the highest echelons to the government. It seems that Biden would take review on key decisions taken by Donald Trump since 4 years.
