Dasu bus accident made rift between China and Pakistan

Pakistan has huge pressure internally from Muslim community for not making any adverse comments against Chinese version of the treatment of Uighurs in Xinjiang province. Pakistan President Imran Khan defended the Chinese version on the Uighur issue as completely different from what was being reported in the Western media.

Imran’s soft attitude towards China raised many criticisms in the country. Pakistan bus ‘blast’ kills at least 12, including nine Chinese workers who worked for Dasu hydropower project in Pakistan. The bus was carrying around 40 Chinese engineers, surveyors and mechanical staff to a hydropower dam construction site.

Pakistan initially mentioned the blast on a mechanical failure that led to a gas leak but China has believed it is because of bombing. China summoned Pakistan Foreign Minister Shah Mahamood Quereshi for Pak’s misleading statements on the bus accident. He will meet Chinese counterpart in the next few days. It seems that China hadn’t believed Pak’s investigation on the accident and sent its own investigation team to monitor the actual reason.  Several militant groups in Pakistan have targeted Chinese nationals in the past. The reasons for opposing China are suppression on Muslim community in Uighurs and Baloch Liberation Army which is strongly opposed China–Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) is a collection of infrastructure projects in Pakistan.

They have not digested the Chinese investments on their land. Beijing has poured billions of dollars into Pakistan in recent years to boost the nation's infrastructure. China demands reassurance on the security of its citizens in Pakistan. It also demands fair investigation and strict punishment for those involved in the attack. Bus accident seems to be growing anger against Chinese investments in Pakistan. Chinese analysts believed Pakistani Taliban may be behind the bus attack. But China is serious about the series of attacks and warned the terrorists to pay a heavy price. China has agreed to send missiles and Special Forces to Pakistan to eliminate threats against Chinese. Pakistan is considered to be China's closest regional ally, but the security of Chinese workers has long been of concern.
