Delta variant entered lately into China

After the eruption of the coronavirus pandemic in the country, China effectively controlled the virus with all precautions and necessary steps. The numbers showed China’s management for not spreading the virus across the nation. China was listed in first place in the number of positive cases in early 2020, now it is 107th nation after one year in the list. 

The delta variant has hit China. No matter how many strict sanctions were enforced to prevent delta cases from entering their country, it was of no use. The Delta variant entered China via the airport in the eastern city of Nanjing. Nine sanitation workers working at the airport were infected with the variant.


Around 200 delta cases had been reported in China. Of those, 31 cases were registered in Nanjing city within two days. Authorities in Nanjing have imposed strict lockdown restrictions. Several flights from Nanjing were canceled. A case was also registered in Beijing on Thursday. This is the first case of a coronavirus that has been infected locally in the last six months. Officials say the case was brought to Beijing by people from Hunan Province who went to Nanjing. There were 2000 cases reported in China last winter. However, all those affected by the Delta at Nanjing Airport were vaccinated with two doses.


Officials said only four of those infected with the virus had contracted a serious infection. That is, they claim to reduce the severity of the infection and the risk of death, even if it does not completely prevent the spread of the virus. A coronavirus cluster that emerged in the Chinese city of Nanjing has now reached five provinces and Beijing, forcing lockdowns on hundreds of thousands of people. Chinese authorities blamed Nanjing airport officials for not supervising covid-19 restrictions at the airport.
