The World Health Organization (WHO) warns European nations of a third pandemic wave. As per WHO, coronavirus cases have increased in Europe after a 10 weeks decline. The main reason for the increase in cases is the mega soccer event Euro 2020 which is becoming Covid-19 hotspot.
Both India and the United States of America have experienced the severity of mass gatherings like Kumbhmela and President elections in America. India suffered with a second wave than any other nation in the world with the largest Hindu gathering Kumbhmela. The more contagious Delta variant could account for 90 percent of new cases in the EU by the end of August.
As mega sports events kickstarted amid coronavirus, nearly 2K cases were registered in Scotland. More than 1000 people said they had been in London to watch the England Vs Scotland match on June 19. Some of them have attended Euro 2020 even though they previously tested positive. Both people and officials breach the coronavirus guidelines in Euro 2020. New cases were tagged if they attended either a Euro 2020 organized event or were present at any gathering to watch a match. Scotland player Billy Gilmour tested positive after the tie with England.
Expecting some English players to have close contact with Scotland's Gilmour. Tens of thousands of Scotland fans reportedly travelled to London even though they couldn't have tickets. As per buzz, more than 30K people in Scotland have tested positive since Euro 2020 started on June 11th. Other European nations urged British government to reduce the number of tickets to watch the final match in Euro 2020. Germany wants to restrict 20% of total capacity in the stadium for all Euro games. Britain is already suffering from an increase in cases of the Delta variant which is blamed as Indian variant. Euro games will increase the cases more in the country and also in the EU as well.
