Every nation is conducting vaccination drives in the world. Some of them are waiting for vaccines, some nations gave orders for vaccination and some have partially completed the vaccination to their people.
Israel has a completely different issue that no country has faced yet. The Middle East Nation is dealing with an excess of vaccines. Israel is the first nation in the world that completed the vaccination drive in the world and said to the people not to wear the masks. Israel is the second nation after UAE in giving coronavirus vaccine doses per 100 people.
UAE gave vaccine doses to 151 whereas Israel gave to 123 people followed by USA and UK. Israel gathered the vaccines from different pharma companies to complete quick vaccination. Now, Israel had 800K doses of vaccine whose expiry date is July 30 left unused. The country is searching for buyers to sell the unused stock and willing to destroy if there are no buyers. Obviously! No country is willing to take a huge number of vaccine doses when the expiry date is nearer to completion. Israel is holding negotiations with the UK broker for Covid-19 vaccine swap deal. In the process of exchange, Israel would ship 800K of Pfizer vaccines which will expire on July 30.
On the other hand, Israel has approached Pfizer for clarification usage of vaccine doses even after expiry date. Pfizer reportedly says it doesn’t have enough information to ensure doses would still be safe after expiry date. Pfizer has reportedly rejected the request from Israel for an extension of expiration date on over a million of its vaccines that are due to expire on July 30. Israel warned the people who have not completed the first dose and said that there will be no first dose after July 09th. Israel is tried to strike vaccine deal with arch rival Palestinian in June after completed the air strikes in May. But Palestinian Authority cancelled the deal quoting the Pfizer jabs were too close to the expiry date.
