TikTok is one of the most successful Chinese apps outside China. Because TikTok has gained widespread adoption around the world, countries have begun to worry that the app may be giving user information to the Chinese government.
India banned world popular Chinese App TikTok in June this year after Galwan Valley incident between India and China soldiers at Ladakh. India is first country dared to take rigorous action against Chinese App. There was lot of pressure from the people for boycotting the Chinese goods is also the reason.
After India, the U.S. is among the first countries to impose an outright ban on TikTok, but there are other countries around the world considering similar measures. Japan is also thinking about imposing a ban on the platform that's nationwide, and Indonesia actually enacted a temporary ban on the platform in 2018. That ban was ultimately overturned, but it was enacted because of "inappropriate content" on the platform. Now Pakistan also joined the above bandwagon against TikTok.
It seems more troubles for the Chinese
owned video sharing platform TikTok. Pakistan banned the app saying it failed
to filter out ‘immoral and indecent’ content. Pakistani users were unconvinced
by the government’s explanation for the ban. TikTik is also blocked in India
and faces ban in the US. India and US both have national security and data
privacy concerns over TikTok. It is the third most downloaded app in 2019 after
WhatsApp and Facebook. TikTok has been downloaded almost 40 million times in
Pakistan.
