Australian team is known for “sledging” opponents while playing the cricket. There were number of incidents in history that Australian fielders target English batsmen in noted “Ashes” series and hits out West Indian batsmen with vulgar comments since 70’s in test cricket.
Their aim is to divert the attention of the batsmen with their comments. This times its racism from audience in ongoing test Border-Gavaskar Test series from audience.
Cricket is known for “gentleman’s game but it has own ugly racism as well in test history. Indian fast bowler Mohammad Siraj was allegedly abused by Australian supporters in third test at Sydney. Fans that come to stadium have drunken and abused Siraj on his hair style and color complexion. Indian cricket team lodged complaint against Australian fans to the umpires. Another pacer Jasprit Bumrah was also racially abused by Aussies cricket fans. Umpires and security guards attended the boundary, before six people were removed from their seats by NSW Police.
