Most of the nations were approved to Pfizer covid-19 vaccine to their people. India’s regulatory Drugs Controller General of India (DCGI) has approved coronavirus vaccine developed by AstraZeneca and Oxford University for emergency use.
India has given first vaccine approval to AstraZeneca, dubbed in India as Covishield. Britain on December 30 becomes the first country to approve the use of the Oxford-AstraZeneca vaccine followed by India and Argentina. Indian government is all set to roll out soon with AstraZeneca vaccine. It is good to know about the vaccine before you vaccinated.
As it claimed, the efficacy results after using AstraZeneca-Oxford Covid-19 vaccine are not 90%. Persons who received two full doses with a gap of 30 days vaccine efficacy were 62% and who received a low dose followed by a full dose the efficacy was 90%. Age old people were not part of the trial of AstraZeneca vaccine. Compared to Pfizer and Moderna, AstraZeneca vaccine has its own advantages to Indians like high availability, sufficient production to cater, not much difficulty in storing the vaccine and easy to handle the vaccine.
AstraZeneca-Oxford vaccine can be stored, transported and handled at normal refrigerated conditions (2°C to 8°C) for at least six months. Oxford has claimed that vaccine worked out a way for 90% protection against the virus. Side-effects that people might get after vaccination are fever & headaches, getting pain at the injection place and fatigue. As per the vaccine developed team, people don’t get allergic symptoms like what we saw in case of Pfizer. It’s important to take second dose of vaccine. Oxford said long gap between two doses will give boost to the effectiveness of the vaccine. Pregnant women are suggested not to take AstraZeneca vaccine.
