What went wrong with UK?

Britain has reached 100K deaths due to coronavirus. Since the early days of the pandemic, many people thought people from black and south-Asian ethnic backgrounds have a greater risk of dying from Covid-19 compared with white people.

An average of 1200 people died every day because of pandemic virus in United Kingdom. Total of 100,162 deaths have been recorded in the UK, is the first European nation to pass such landmark. British PM Boris Johnson has apologized for the high death toll, the highest in Europe and says he takes "full responsibility".

Why UK death toll is so bad? There is no straight forward answer for the question. 100K deaths in a country of 65 million people is just exposed UK healthcare system. Last year by this time, Britain has reported two cases of coronavirus. Health Ministry was proudly said that the country had efficient testing system and had advanced health infrastructure to tackle pandemic virus. There were 40 positive cases reported on March 02nd, 2020 and number was increased to 616 after two weeks. First lockdown was imposed on March 23rd which many feel delay in announcing restrictions. Boris energetic speech on May raised hopes among the people, He vowed that UK brought world beating track and trace of covid-19 system by June 01st, 2020.

Second lockdown was inevitable in UK from November 05th after surge in positive cases in September and October. Added to fuel to fire, new variant erupted in first week of December which forced the nation into panic. Health Ministry said that situation is out of control in the country. PM declared third lockdown on January 04th, 2021 and likely to continue till mid of February. People have fed up with untimely decisions of Boris and protested against lockdown restrictions. One positive decision taken by Boris Johnson is procurement of vaccines. UK is efficiently managed and started vaccination drive than any other nation in the world. UK gave order for 350 million doses of vaccines from 5 vaccine companies before starting the drive.
