Soon after the eruption of pandemic
virus in all countries, every country had tried to get self-reliant on pharma
sector. Thanks to the coronavirus for paying their attention on medical
emergencies.
At the same time, some countries want to show their supremacy in
pharma in producing the vaccine for the virus as early as possible and make the
money. We heard about successful vaccine stories till now like Modrena,
Astrazenca, Pfizer and Bharat Biotech to counter covid-19. But there are some failures
also exist in the world.
Pharma companies across the world raced against time to produce effective vaccine against pandemic virus. Still some vaccines are in trial stage. GSK/Sanofi vaccine developed by French and British GlaxoSmithKline failed to overcome the R&D phase. GSK/Sanofi has failed to produce a strong immune response among the people over the age of 60. This causes delay in roll out the GSK/Sanofi into the market. US pharma candidate Merck has pulled the plug on two of its coronavirus vaccines.
As per health experts from Merck, two vaccine candidates failed to trigger an immune response and that forced them out of vaccine race. Initially, Merck emerged as strong competitor to Pfizer and Moderna later it had failed not only in producing the vaccine in quick time but also in efficacy as well. Australia pinned hopes on its indigenous vaccine with Queensland university vaccine. But the vaccine failed as recipients of the vaccine tested positive for HIV after getting the first shot. Vaccine contained parts of HIV protein that led to positive results. Modrena and Pfizer have allergic complaints and nausea after getting first shot but not severe like Queensland university vaccine.
