During 7 months of the severe first wave of coronavirus there
were 1.6 lakh reported casualties in India. The second Covid-19 wave has been
more deadly, with over 1.4 lakh deaths happening in the last 7 weeks alone.
United States, which has recorded over 5.84 lakh deaths, and Brazil, which has seen 4.48 lakh deaths, has a higher death count. India now accounts for 16% of the global confirmed cases, and 9% of global deaths. There are many reasons for the deaths of coronavirus in the country like lack of enough vaccine supply, lack of oxygen supply and allowing the large Hindu gathering “Kumbah Mela”. Hundreds of bodies were floated from UP to Bihar in holy river Ganges even today. Prime Minister Narendra Modi breaks out on the incident when he was reviewing the situation in Varanasi.
Dead bodies were found buried on the banks of the Ganges River. Most of them were suspected to be coronavirus victims. Many have fear that the corpus will be exposed and float down once the rainy season starts at the end of the June. It is very pathetic situation that some people struggled to find space to perform last rites for their kith and kin at the banks of Ganges River. There are rumors that government not disclosed total deaths.
