Aung San Suu Kyi again in news after February military coup in the media. Myanmar deposed leader Suu Kyi has appeared in person at a court hearing for the first time since her government was overthrown by a military coup.
Suu Kyi is facing the charges like possessing of walkie talkie radios for violating state secret laws and violation of covid-19 norms. She might get 14 years of imprisonment if she found guilty on the charges. It’s very strange that Suu Kyi doesn’t know where she was detained since February.
Myanmar is just erupted with protests after she was arrested
in February. Suu Kyi was transferred to house arrest on the same evening, and
on 3 February was formally charged with illegally importing ten or more
walkie-talkies. Suu Kyi was arrested by the military during the 2021 Myanmar
coup after it declared the November 2020 Myanmar general election results
fraudulent. People across the nation have protested against her detention.
Reportedly, Military killed 800 people and detained 4K who agitated for the
release of their leader. Atrocities of junta have appeared to the world through
Social Media.
1991 Nobel Peace Prize laureate had played a vital role in
Myanmar's transition from military junta to partial democracy in the 2010s. Suu
Kyi had been detained before the elections and remained under house arrest for
almost 15 of the 21 years from 1989 to 2010, becoming one of the world's most
prominent political prisoners. United Nations should involve into Myanmar
politics to save the human rights and democracy otherwise most popular leader
