Tablighi get rid of bad stigma

Tablighi Jamaat first came into news during first wave of coronavirus in March’20. Despite government orders prohibiting large gatherings, more than 4,500 people assembled at the Tablighi Jamaat Markaz in mid-March.

Nation was shocked and many criticized them as super spreaders of coronavirus. The organization was subjected to intense scrutiny in spreading the virus. The nightmare for the officials was that all the attendees and their contacts had to now be traced and quarantined to prevent further spread of the deadly virus.

After one year, the same Sunni Islamic organization is in the news for some good reasons when the nation is desperate in fighting with coronavirus. Tablight Jamaat volunteers have performed the last rites of scores of coronavirus victims at Tirupati. The members of Tirupati Muslim Association formed Covid-19 JAC in August 2020. So far, they buried 504 covid-19 victims as per Islamic religious law. They also performed last rites for Hindu and Christian people. The Muslim Organization has received many applause for their doings and it was eroded the bad impression to them from last year’s events. Their service is in the news when people are facing problems for graveyards across the nation.

Tablighi Jamaat volunteers in Tirupati are working round the clock to give a noble farewell for dead bodies. Their activities start from picking up the dead body from house or hospital, taking the body to graveyard and conducting last rites. The team performs the last rites of coronavirus victims as per the religious customs of the deceased family. The team made arrangements of PPE kits to their members who were involved in the activities. The team has been conducting funerals of at least 15 bodies daily for the past month, irrespective of community and religion.
