Biden signs anti-Asian hate crimes bill

Though the nation developed and highly educated, United States of America is suffering with common ills like color, racism and ethnicity.

Entire world see attacks on black in the country. #Blacklivesmatter moment is one of the causes that Donald Trump lost the election. Nearly 65% of anti-Asian hate crimes takes place in Unites States of America in 12 months period between March 2020 and March 2021. These attacks have increased after the eruption of pandemic virus.

Women reported 64.8% of the incidents reported to Stop AAPI Hate, while men reported 29.8%. Most of the incidents took place at a business 32.2% or on a public street or sidewalk, 29.4%.  US President Joe Biden propose bill to control the attacks on Asians. Covid-19 Hate Crimes Act, will create a new position at the Justice Department to expedite review of potential Covid-19-related hate crimes and incidents reported at the federal, state or local level. Biden signed on the bill to become law which aims to curb violent acts against Asian Americans.

This law is great sigh of relief to Asian American community which strongly believed the victims were targeted because of race and gender. Asians who are living in New York are learning self-defence skills to protect themselves from attacks. It was surprised that many elder people from Asia have signed up for these classes. President Biden wants to implement the new law by May 25th which is the first anniversary of George Floyd’s death.
