Does China force Sri Lanka to keep India out of Colombo Port?

There is no end for China’s frustration towards India. China can’t digest retaliation of Indian army at Galwan valley that causes humiliation of China among the people.

Another reason was India’s upholds Australia’s resolution of Wuhan virus enquiry in recently concluded World Health Organization meeting. That forced China seems to isolate Indian neighbors out from India.

China is Pakistan’s life line. Now, it is turned as guide and mentor to Nepal too. The reason for Iran government’s decision to keeps out India from Chabahar Port is China. Now, China’s is tightening its grip over Sri Lanka. China’s debt trap makes India out of Colombo Port deal. Sri Lanka is re-thinking on India, Japan Port deal. MoU was signed in 2019 to build new container terminal at Colombo port. China is showing its influence over Sri Lanka. It also involved in Sri Lankan affairs through funding to various political parties.

China’s holds its grip over Sri Lanka whoever wins next general elections in August. Sri Lanka falls in China’s debt trap and ignored good friend like India. President Rajapaksa government is reviewing port deal with Indian government worth $900 million was signed in 2019 among Sri Lanka, India and Japan. As per the MoU, Sri Lanka takes 51% stake and rest would share between India and Japan. China is the biggest single lender to Sri Lanka and over 12% of it’s debt. China’s Communist Party is ready work with Sri Lankan political parties for next general elections. It shows how China’s influence increased over Sri Lanka affairs. Anyway, India’s role on building terminal at Colombo international port is under shadow because of China.
