Was Sweden's herd immunity has pay off?

We came to hear new medical terminology like Plasma therapy and herd-immunity after the eruption of coronavirus outbreak. Countries are sincerely trying to control the damage before the vaccine arrived into the market. 

Some countries follow to impose strict lock-down and others did in a different way to contain the impact of pandemic virus. After Wuhan, European nations have severely affected with coronavirus starting from Milan in Italy. As per National health agency only 1.2 percent came back positive last week, which was the lowest rate since the pandemic began.

Most of the European nations have seen surge of new coronavirus infections since few weeks. But Sweden has followed different approach to save the lives of the people.  The number of cases has continued to decline since June. The reason for this trend many attributed for Sweden approach aimed at achieving herd immunity without vaccination. Sweden has not imposed a lockdown such as those seen elsewhere in Europe. Swedish government has not even recommended people mandatory to wear masks.

Swedish government has relied on people to voluntarily social distance and maintains hygiene. It is the one of the world’s highest coronavirus related death rates, even higher than in United States. Even the nation not imposed lockdown like other nations, Sweden GDP fell by 8.6% in Q2 of 2020. The government never said herd immunity was their goal but stats showed the Swedes are far from it. WHO said herd immunity is not permanent solution that other countries should follow. Around 10% of people in Stockholm had developed antibodies for covid-19 by June. Health experts have dismissed the approach, as its unclear how long antibodies protect against pandemic. But Swedish government educated its people about the impact of virus.
