Montero Lamar Hill, known by his stage name Lil Nas X, is an American rapper, singer, songwriter, and internet personality. His popularity has increased with rap “Old Town Road” which first received viral popularity in TikTok app in early 2019.
It spends 19 straight weeks atop the US Billboard Hot Chart 100. All his gained popularity has drastically dropped with new music video. The rapper would collaborate with Brooklyn Company to make 666 pairs of “Satan Shoes” – black Nike Air Max 97s customized to feature a bronze pentagram. Real controversy is that Satan’s fall and a drop of human blood mixed with red ink in midsole.
Athletic shoemaker Nike sued against Brooklyn after the former launched 'Satan Shoes' in collaboration with American rapper Lil Nas X. The Black and Red devil themed shoes contain a drop of real human blood which is donated by the members of the art collective. The shoe looks like modified Nike Air Max 97 sneakers. Nike issued a statement that it has no way connected with this project and have accused Brooklyn MSCHF of trademark infringement. Satan shoes have uploaded for sale in online and reportedly sold out Satan shoes within less than a minute at a cost of $1,018.
Lil Nas X said on Twitter he would
choose the recipient of the 666th pair from social media users who circulated
one of his tweets. The Nike similar shoes misled many consumers and sparked outrage
in social media. Nike has requested a jury trial to seek damages and requested
the court to stop selling the shoes. Nike alleges that the sneaker giant with
the bloody soled shoes due to their trademark swoosh symbol. Previously, MSCHF
turned Nike Air Max 97s into Jesus inspired sneakers filled with holy water
which sold for $3K. Just one bad idea will spoil the whole popularity.
