Germany extends lockdown one more month

Germany is still struggling how to come out from pandemic surge. Initially people heard successful stories on Germany’s way of controlling the virus. After each passing day the country was exposed it’s useless strategies to check coronavirus.

Germany's lockdown will be extended until at least March 28, but the government has revealed a five-step plan to relax restrictions. German Chancellor Angela Merkel has revealed the government's five-step plan to relax lockdown measures.

The government has completely failed after the second surge since December 2020. People resist government’s actions of imposing restrictions. Anti-lockdown protests takes place across many cities in the country. Unlike United Kingdom, Germany is not pro-active in vaccine strategy as well. Germany has recently expressed doubts over the efficacy of the vaccine for over 65. The Standing Committee on Vaccination recommends the AstraZeneca vaccine for over 65 year’s age.

Germany is set to open up the AstraZeneca vaccine to over 65 in a major U-turn to revive its faltering vaccine programme as the EU today looked for another lifeline by beginning the approval process for Russia's Sputnik V jab. Germany and France suggest that patience with the slow vaccination programmes is wearing thin, with less than a quarter of both populations satisfied with their governments’ efforts. Germany is facing many concerns on vaccination campaign. Scarcity of vaccine supply and not enough health care manpower are hampering to get early dose of Pfizer vaccine to the people.
