UK comes out from European Union effective from January 01st 2021. The deals between two ended amicably with dialogue before UK out of EU. World didn’t see much uproar from either side.
But surprisingly unexpected fire has caught between two on coronavirus vaccine. EU’s problems on coronavirus vaccine seem to never end. Most of the countries are continued lockdown strategies even when other nations implemented vaccination drive.
EU nations put blame that UK used most of the doses and put ban on exporting vaccines to other EU nations. British Prime Minister Boris Johnson says that his government has not blocked the sale of covid-19 vaccines to EU. It faces huge criticism over its slow vaccination rollout. Brussels hits back in vaccine exports row with UK which is the biggest recipient of EU vaccines with 9.1 million doses and has not delivered a single dose to the EU as contracts do not allow UK companies to export vaccines. 9.1 mn doses for the UK form part of the total EU exports of 34.1 mn doses to 31 nations.
Britain has one step ahead in getting vaccines from all corners in the world. UK is the first nation gave approvals to the Pfizer vaccine for emergency use of approval. Other nations in EU lag behind UK in this issue. EU blames that AstraZeneca has not fulfilled it’s commitments to EU in timely supplying the vaccines. EU nations are looking other alternates to AstraZeneca and Moderna vaccines. Czech Republic has a plan to get Chinese Sinopharm vaccine which is the second nation after Hungary to use Chinese vaccine.
