We saw cyclones, floods, earthquakes and other natural calamities. But the world has seen rarely Tsunamis and sandstorms. The worst ever sandstorm in a decade has hit Chinese capital on Monday.
The sky turned a pale yellow with visibility of less than 1000 meters and apocalyptic sky has appeared in Beijing. Thick clouds of sand and yellow smog are appeared in Beijing. Pollution is natural and air quality reached hazardous levels. Traffic has disrupted in Beijing roads on Monday morning. People have seen with masks inside closed doors.
High winds gave tentatively warning to away from billboards and structures. Educational institutions have suspended all outdoor activities. As per China Meteorological department, the sandstorm is actually originated in Mongolia where several people have reportedly killed by the violent storm. Beijing air pollution has reached to dangerous levels as per Air Quality Index (AQI) on Monday. 12 provinces in Northern China have severely affected with sandstorm. The government said that it aims to achieve the neutrality of carbon by the end of 2060.
Beijing is what an ecological crisis looks like. After two weeks of smog and static air, strong wind carries a sand storm in, sending AQI off the chart. Such storms used to occur regularly in the springtime as sand from western deserts blew eastwards, affecting areas as far as northern Japan. Skyscrapers in Beijing were appeared to drop from sight amid the dust and sand. Massive planting of trees and bushes in fragile areas has reduced the effects on other parts of the country in recent years. Like Covid-19, which is believed to have spread from bats and other wild animals, sandstorms are a reminder of the need to respect nature.
