Political leaders should have relations with the people whether they are in ruling or in opposition. But the situation of former United States President Donald Trump is different after losing the Presidential elections.
Trump used to be very much active on Twitter and Facebook when he was US President. Both these Social Media platforms banned his accounts after a pro-Trump mob was attacked the US Capitol in January this year. Twitter says permanent ban on Trump even if he runs for office again.
Facebook also defends its ban on Trump whereas
Youtube says it will restore it when it decides the risk of violence has
decreased. That forced Trump to open own blogger for sharing its opinions. His
blog didn’t even make it to the one-month mark. “From the Desk of Donald J.
Trump” is the name of the blog which was launched on May 04th. As
per U.S. media, there are no takers to view Donald Trump's blog. Some of his
friends suggest an active Social Media platform is the right option for Trump
to connect with people.
Even though his new blog allowed Trump to post images, texts and videos that didn’t give his followers many options for engagement which led to low readership. Trump has many conservative lawmakers and politicians who continue to show their loyalty towards the former President. But his active engagement in social media is very less after he faced ban from Twitter and Facebook. Many senior leaders have felt it is very difficult to run for the 2024 Presidential elections if Trump isn't active with people.
