Every country is seriously looking to complete vaccination drives in their countries. Assuming the fear of delta variants across the world, countries are in hurry to speed up the vaccination campaign to protect from the third wave.
Some countries have shown India and the U.S. who stood at top two places in coronavirus list as references for speedy vaccination. The Philippines is the worst affected Southeast Asian nation with coronavirus. The country has 110 million people and 20K died of pandemic virus.
Philippines President Rodrigo Duterte asked Filipinos who are not willing to take the vaccine to leave the country and go to India and the U.S. As of June 20, officials had fully vaccinated 2.1 million people. It is very slow and tidy progress of the vaccination drive and the government failed to reach the target of 70 million people. As per the one internal survey in 2020, only 66% people have agreed for vaccination against covid-19 but this number has fallen down now and only 32% of people are willing to take the jab. The reason for reluctance of the people is that people have no confidence in vaccines.
Rodrigo Duterte wants to restart the economy after completing the herd immunity with covid-19 vaccination in the country. The frustration of the people over vaccines forced the President to implement mandatory driving in the country. The Philippines President also threatened people with jail if they resisted getting vaccinations. But he was criticized for his hard approach to contain the virus. It is surprising that he took India and the U.S. as references for the people to leave. He quoted two nations because of their top two positions in having a number of positive cases.
