The UK is currently facing the Third wave of coronavirus. Boris Johnson has extended the restrictions till July 19. But state governments in India are hurriedly unlocking their states phase-wise. Unlocking is also important to resume economic activity in the country.
But here states are slow in vaccination programmes but showed interest in unlocking. AIIMS chief Dr Randeep Guleria has warned that a third wave threat is looming over India. In another six to eight weeks the third wave will begin in the country. Many states in the country are moving towards unlocking as the second wave intensity decreases.
It seems that states haven’t learned lessons from the First and Second wave. In India, just 4% of the population has completed full vaccination whereas 17% of the population has finished 1 dose. Both the U.S. and U.K. used a lockdown period for speedy vaccination to control the virus but India has just lacked the goal. People are meeting again in groups, in groups once after relaxation and chances of increasing corona cases will rise again across the country. The third wave may start in another six to eight weeks or a little longer. The threat could have been averted if the corona had taken precautions rather than crowds.
Vaccination is the biggest challenge. The new wave boom could take three months or less. That's something that depends on the virus. It is important to understand that the virus is constantly mutating. So the corona should follow the precautions and keep an eye on the hotspots where cases are most prevalent. Testing, tracking and treatment should be implemented in the respective areas. Mini lockdowns should be placed in areas where cases are less than 5 percent.
